3. Encourage Active Facilitation
This is absolutely key to promote inclusion.
Meeting leaders must embrace the role of facilitator.
Draw attendees in (e.g., “Sasha, please share your thoughts”) to keep them engaged. Avoid generically asking, “Any comments?”
Be dialed into the dynamics and make sure you are gaining engagement, helping manage conflicts constructively, and creating a safe space.
Also, don’t let an attendee ramble and go off topic, kindly interrupt if necessary so others can engage. That is your job as a meeting leader. All attendees are hoping you do this.
